This team is involved in helping at the rescue base directly with the rabbits. This role is great for those who love DIY, being outdoors and being hands on with the bunnies. You must have access to transport or be able to travel to the rescue at least 1 day a month. The rescue is based in a small rural village off the M74 in South Lanarkshire, postcode ML11.

ADOPTION TEAM
Our adoption team help the journey of adopters from their initial application to collecting their bunnies. They are also involved in helping with rescue missions of rabbits needing help being rescued across Scotland. This role involves:
- Doing home visits to discuss adoption once adoption forms have been sent in, going through the adoption criteria with people and helping us to find their perfect match bunny. This involves people skills and being confident to give support and direction.
- Helping collect rescue rabbits in need and transport them to the rescue.
- Following up with adopters on how bunnies are settling in.
- Sending links and advice to those going through the adoption process as well as give tips and suggestions on improvements needing made.
EDUCATION
Our education team works alongside the Scottish animal welfare board with other organisations keen to prevent animal cruelty in Scotland and educate as many as possible on rabbit and animal welfare and care needs. Projects are started on various topics to help pin point a focus and target a specific group. This group is very official and this is a highly professional role which is public facing, this is perfect for anyone already in the education sector or works in training up others. This role involves:
- Being able to attend the SAWEF meetings every quarter, held in different locations in the central belt. These are a coming together of all the various welfare organisations in Scotland to discuss plans and projects that we are working on.
- Attending events such as education talks in museums, schools and vets. PVG will be required (we can put you through this). You must be able to work with children and be good at speaking publicly.
- Helping run events, talks and helping brain storm ideas for current projects.
- Being creative and coming up with new ideas.
- Sharing educational topics on social media to raise awareness.
FOSTER CARING
Our foster carers are absolutely priceless to helping us do what we do! Without foster carers we could not take in or help as many rabbits. It is our foster carers role to help prepare their rabbit/s for their forever home and help us find them that. Foster carers are provided with all of the equipment and set up needed to get started and support is always available 24/7. Foster carers must be able to collect their foster rabbits from the rescue and transport them back to us when they are being adopted. Holiday cover is always provided at the rescue for foster bunnies.
There are various types of foster roles available:
Long term foster carer - this is for those wanting to commit to properly fostering (indoor commitment minimum 1 year and outdoor commitment minimum 2 years). You will foster various rabbits in that time, either a single or a bonded pair and then take away a new placement when that one gets adopted. The rabbit/s will be with you approx 1-8 months (pairs will take longer to find homes than the singles do). You will learn so much about rabbits doing this as you will be caring for rabbits with different personalities and learn a lot about handling and care needs of different bunnies.
Temporary foster carer - this is for those not able to commit fully to fostering due to circumstances but would like to be able to help occasionally at various times of the year. This type of fostering would involve the person having their own set up to use. This would involve fostering in emergencies for a short period of time (1 - 7 nights) or foster holiday cover which could be between 1-4 weeks.
Foster trial - this is for those considering welcoming rabbits into their life but are unsure if it right for them and their famililes or if they may be allergic. This is available as an indoor trial only, and a full indoor set up is provided for 1 month to care for a pair of rabbits that is well matched to the person and their family/household. If the trial goes well, after the 1 month trial they may go onto adopt the pair and if they realise it is too much work or not right for them or they are allergic, the rabbits and equipment can be safely returned to us with no harm caused. This helps prevent rabbits being purchased on a whim for them to later end up in rescue when the person realises they are not right for them.

- Providing us with regular updates on how the rabbit/s are doing along with photos and videos that we can share on social media to help them find a home.
- Getting support and advice from our foster care manager who is available to offer help and training.
- Being able to travel to the rescue and also to one of our vet partners for any emergency vet care the rabbit/s may need. - All of our rabbits are already ready for adoption when they go out to foster care, this means that they have already been neutered, fully vaccinated and health and behaviourally assessed therefore no routine vet visits are required.
