Got a knack for DIY or would you like to put your handy skills to use for a good cause? The bunny buildings and housing at the rescue is in need of maintenance volunteers to keep it in tip top shape.
Maintenance Caretaker - CURRENTLY RECRUITING
The right individual for this position will have experience with and an affection for animals, strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work outside. This is a physical job that requires self-motivated individuals with good work ethic and patience.
Location: Douglas, ML11
Skills required:
Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including rain.
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions easily and concisely.
Excellent observation skills.
Have reliable transportation.
Trade skills are desirable (particularly joinery, builder or painting/decorating)
Role involves:
Checking buildings and enclosures for signs of mould/damp and wear and tear.
Repairing enclosures including re-meshing, re-felting, adjusting and fitting locks.
Sanding and painting using internal and external paints.
Waterproofing including installing tarpaulins and re-felting roofs.
Installing Runaround systems (bespoke rabbit tunnel systems) - training provided.
Clearing gutters of rabbit buildings.
Fixing rabbit wooden hides/toys.
Waste removal to our dump site.
Building ramps.
Insulating enclosures, weatherboarding, and installing/replacing flooring (typically Lino).
