Get hands on experience like no other with rabbits at BBBB. We offer both clinical and husbandry work experience for vet students and those studying animal care.
Husbandry Experience - PLACEMENTS AVAILABLE EASTER & SUMMER 2024
Location: Douglas, ML11
What's required:
- Must be able to arrange transport to and from the rescue.
- Capable and confident to work alone after training is given.
- Studying animal care / vet med and be comfortable around a variety of species.
- Must bring own lunch - break space is provided with tea/coffee making facilities.
- Appropriate clothing including wellies and waterproofs - this is an outdoor placement.
Role Involves:
- Learning up to date welfare needs for rabbits and providing gold standard care by way of cleaning, enrichment and daily activities for domestic rabbits.
- Learning about dietary needs of rabbits including how to feed a wild diet and foraging, importance of hay and refilling hay nets daily.
- Assisting with grooming rabbits.
- Observing rabbits behaviour and completing behaviour sheet charts.
Time Commitment:
Weekly placement of 35 hours across 5 days (Mon-Fri).
