Our History
Our rescue was established as a registered non profit in January 2017 by our Founder, Jeniveeve after over a decade of working with rabbits, with the aim to help rescue rabbits and improve rabbit welfare. The rescue quickly outgrew its original site and in 2018 Jeniveeve and her husband purchased a property which would become the home of BBBB.
How We Operate
We are a fully vegan rabbit rescue, insured and fully licensed animal welfare organisation by South Lanarkshire council (license number 483437). A large part of our work is in education and animal welfare activism and we have an education arm, Bunny Welfare Improvement Movement.
We operate both at our private property and community hub which is open to the public, as well as have a foster care network. Our wonderful volunteers have helped us create an incredible community of rabbit lovers and help with lots of volunteer roles.
We are proud to be Scotland's only rabbit rescue with a dedicated veterinary team and onsite veterinary practice. We are run purely on donations and support from the public, with our rabbit specialist services we offer to the public helping contribute towards ongoing running costs.

Our Ethos
Matching
We match rabbits and homes together with our unique 5 criteria matching process. We do not take a "take one and try it" approach, instead we carefully consider our rabbits needs and take special consideration to match both families and rabbits together.
Time & Care
Rather than a conveyor belt of rabbits quickly in and out, we do not rush rabbits through their rehabilitation process. The focus is on the right home. All rabbits stay with us a minimum of 4 weeks to ensure they have had all appropriate vet care and been assessed.
We care so much about each rabbit who stays with us. When the rabbits stay with us or a foster carer while they await their forever home, they are treated as if one of our own precious family members and have access to all 5 welfare needs.
Either at the rescue or at foster, they are in someone's home. Our rescue is a 'home from home' environment for the rabbits and they are never kept in a cage or hutch. They all have the luxuries we would expect them to have in their future homes as well.

For Life
Once a BBB bunny, always a BBB bunny. We offer lifetime support and back up to all of our rabbits and their adopters, ensuring they never end up rehomed elsewhere or in another rescue.
What makes us an “ethical rescue”?
|
We comply to the BABBA ethical rescue standards and are recognised as an approved Ethical Rabbit Rescue. We will also only work with other ethical rescues.

What to expect when adopting from us?
What we will do:
What we won’t do:
- Ensure there are no surprises when you adopt, we know our rabbits inside and out before we pass them for adoption.
- Tell you all about the rabbit/s you have been matched with, you’ll get to know their background, their behaviour, their likes and dislikes.
- Match you with the right rabbit/s that will fit in well with you, your family and your home using our unique matching process – this takes into consideration experience level of the person, family members in the home, time and work commitments, additional animals in the home, location and exotic vet accessibility and most importantly the type and temperaments of the rabbit/s you already have to ensure they will work together well as a team and will make a good compatible pair/trio/group.
- Take into consideration your limitations and what type of rabbit/s you can take on.
- Always support our adopters and be there to help our rabbits at any time through their life.
What we won’t do:
- Allow you to pick and choose a rabbit you want or match you with a rabbit that does not match your criteria.
- Match you with rabbits based purely on looks/aesthetic (ie “I want the cute one” or “I want a grey lop one”). We are not a designer shop for rabbits, our rabbits need adopted into loving, caring homes with people who care about who they are, not what they look like.
- Allow our rabbits to live alone.
- Be unrealistic or tell you what you want to hear. We are here to guide and support you to ensure you can meet all of the welfare needs of rabbits. If you are simply unable to, we will not lower our standards.
