About  Our  Boarding  Service

NEW: LAUNCHING DEC 2024 - BUNNY TAXI TRANSPORTATION FOR BOARDING RABBITS
Picture

Being huge rabbit lovers and owners ourselves as well as animal advocates, we struggled to find anywhere at all in Scotland which met our standard we had for our own rabbits and that we could trust to leave them with while we went away. There was simply no where we could leave our bunnies and have peace of mind knowing they were getting the love they get from us and their usual care. (You won't find big huts crammed with hutches here!)

  • ALL of our boarding accommodation is rabbit welfare focused and exceeds the welfare housing size recommendations. We have the largest most luxury rabbit boarding accomodations in Scotland. There are NO HUTCHES OR CAGES and they have 24/7 permenant run about access.
  • All accommodations are insulated, fully covered and completely enclosed. All runs and play areas are floored for infection control and security purposes and covered for protection against the weather meaning your rabbits are always safe.
  • We use the Royal Dick Vet School (the TOP exotic Rabbit Vets in Scotland) for any treatment needed during their stay.
  • We have the facilities and experience to do groomings, injections, nebulising, medicating and can deal with all types of special needs rabbits. We also offer diet plans, and behavioural assessments while boarding.
  • We are welfare focused which means no wood shavings, no dusty brown hay, no hutches, no unsafe toys, no bowls full of pellets, no carrots, no unsafe treats.
  • We do not allow rabbits to come into contact or meet other rabbits during their stay for infection control and referred aggression purposes.
  • All set ups have night lights and can have radio access if requested.
  • We offer long term boarding and hospitalisation stays.

Our standards are very high and we cater to the rabbit savvy client who wants their rabbit cared for the way they should be, not sub par simply as it is short term holiday cover. If anything, we aim to give rabbits even more luxury than they would have at home.

Appointment Times

Picture
Check in/outs are limited to 30 minute appointments unless otherwise arranged.
Unfortunately we cannot do appointments out with these times. Please bare this in mind when booking boarding dates.

Drop offs and pick ups must be done at the drop off point at the gate, this not only maintains peace and quiet so that rabbits are not disturbed, but also helps to keep our home private. Please be sure you are happy with this arrangement BEFORE making your booking.

Updates & Pictures

We spend an abundance of time daily with each guest to make sure they are happy, clean, fed and adored. We are very devoted to the quality of care that each pet gets while staying with us and being treated as our own. Unfortunately we are no longer able to spend hours daily responding to individual update and picture requests during your holiday period. The amount of admin takes us away from being able to care for the guests and rescue and our priority is always the care of the animals and to spend as much time with them as possible. Updates are now given via the Pet Activity page on your boarding pets account to ensure you get updates but that are reasonable to us and the time that we have daily. We always promise to be straight in touch if we have any concerns, so please enjoy your holiday and trust us to care for your precious pets. They really are in the safest hands and adoring their holiday too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I go about booking?
A: Email us at [email protected] with your holiday dates and we will confirm our availability, take a deposit and secure your booking.

Q: What do I need to bring?
A: An appropriate carrier and vaccine certificates for proof of having up to date vaccinations for ALL Myxomatosis, VHD1 & VHD2. Your carrier must be labelled with both rabbit and owners name.

Q: Can I come and visit beforehand?

A: We used to love visitors and welcomed people in with open arms. However when the pandemic hit, in order to remain open we had to create a safe outdoor drop off point at the side of the property where we could do appointments without people entering the property. We have found that this has made things safer for both us and the rabbits due to the increase levels of VHD2 in Scotland (fatal rabbit virus) and the rabbits have greatly benefited as many rabbits are anxious and nervous when visitors come in. For this reason, we are still not allowing people in to visit (please remember this is our home and we also deserve some privacy and safety as people are coming and going almost all day everyday for appointments from all across the UK). We are however, loving doing virtual video calls with new clients to show them around and answer any questions they may have, this has also been great to see what type of set up their rabbits have at home. If you are a new client, please feel free to enquire about having a virtual walk through, we would love to meet you and your bunnies before booking you in!

Q: What COVID protocols do you have in place to keep me safe at my appointment?
A: When you come for your appointment, we will greet you at a distance at our drop off point which is outdoors at the side of our property. We will be wearing masks and there is a hand gel dispenser at the drop off point for you to use. When we bring your carrier in, we will disinfect it and also do this before we bring the rabbits back out to you at pick up. To minimise contact, we ask that you bring your paperwork with you already filled out and have paid already online on our booking system.

Q: Do you cater to indoor bunnies?
A: Yes, most of our clients are indoor bunnies. All our accommodations are adaptable, please see above for which set ups are suited for indoor buns at which time. We have 4 accommodations which are fully indoor and suited to bunnies who are used to their home luxuries all year round.

Q: What if my bunny has never been outside before?
A: Studies have been done that show that all rabbits need safe outdoor time if possible for their health and wellbeing, it is essential for them to get sunlight for Vitamin D and their calcium absorption. Therefore, we encourage all owners to consider taking advantage of boarding their indoor bunnies in a set up which allows outdoor access as all our set ups are fully secure and safe and some indoor bunny owners are unable to offer this at home. It will do your rabbits the world of good to have some time enjoying the fresh air and being a bunny. Rabbits natural instincts kick in and they display natural behaviours which we encourage. We make sure that your rabbits are comfy, cosy and happy at all times and we guarantee your bunnies will have a blast!

Q: Can you board my disabled/special needs bunny?
A: Yes, absolutely! We cater to all types of bunnies are all fully qualified and equipped to deal with rabbits with special needs. We have lots of experience with disabled rabbits and can do any medicating / syringe feeding needed, we also have an onsite nebuliser and special litter trays for disabled bunnies.

Q: Do you cater for giant bunnies or large bonded groups?
A: Yes we do indeed. All of our accommodations are very large and suitable to house giant rabbits and large bonded groups and we often have some staying (we also have our own large sanctuary resident group which includes a giant bun!)

Q: Will my bunnies be left for a long period of time?
A: No, there is always someone here looking after the bunnies. We do not leave the bunnies for any length of time there is always someone to care for them as we have rescue special need bunnies that require 24/7 care. We also have cameras covering everywhere to watch over the bunnies, even during the night!

Q: Is there security in place?
A: Yes, although we have someone here and things monitored 24/7 there is CCTV in place, 6ft security fencing securing the whole gardens and padlocks on every accommodation. We are lucky to be situated in a small, quiet, rural village and be part of neighbourhood watch but we can never be too careful in todays world. Every accommodation is fully secure and predator proof.
