Get right in the deep end with helping directly with the rabbits themselves at the rescue in Douglas, South Lanarkshire. Lots of rabbits need a lot of hands to care for all their fluffy needs.
Care Assistant teams - CURRENTLY RECRUITING What's required?
Transport to and from the rescue (there is only one bus from Lanark)
A good level of physical fitness - this is a physically demanding role requiring you to lift, bend to access the playhouses and be on your feet all day
Being quiet, calm and respectful around the rabbits
Listening well to direction and being able to communicate concerns
A love of rabbits, being welfare focused and a desire to care for them
Reliability is essential - the rabbits need cared for, no matter the day/weather
You must be able to work outdoors and be comfortable being outside in Scottish weather which can be unpredictable
Role involves:
Cleaning the rabbit enclosures, sweeping runs, changing their litter trays, sweeping and adhering to our strict infection control procedures and cleaning policies
Hand feeding the rabbits and providing them with enrichment toys, filling their hay racks, cleaning and refilling water dispensers
Assisting with nursing sick or disabled rabbits, our sanctuary rabbits or looking after youngsters under the direction of our senior care and vet team
Cleaning post op, recovery and quarantine kennels, units and floor in our clinic to help keep our clinic a sterile environment - using PPE and strong cleaning agents
Cleaning toys and organising the storage cabins
Time Commitment:
Minimum 1 shift per month (Sunday 2-6pm or Wed/Fri 10am-2pm) or once per week during school holiday periods
