Blask
About
Age: Unknown (estimated 5+)
Breed: Mix
Size: Medium
Gender: Male
Blask, meaning "shining sparkle" in Polish, is our resident bright spark. Despite a very tough life and many homes, he proves to us how resilient he is and he never gives up. When he first arrived, he was so shy and unsure, staying safely in his litter tray. Once he felt the fresh air on his fur, he came venturing out of his shell and since then hasn't popped back in.
Due to previous trauma, our Behaviourist has been working closely one to one with him. During his behavioural assessments, she has been able to determine what works for him and find his triggers. He absolutely loves the outdoors, he feels safer outside where he can he escape if he needs to. Being inside can make him feel defensive and trapped. He is completely blind, so he navigates using his ears and nose, these senses are very heightened which can make him slightly reactive.
Blask loves to be nosy and comes running to greet you the second he senses you are there. You won't get peace to do anything, he will be watching you (in his own Blask way) and you'll get constant boops and nudges. Your wellies may even get a little love nibble! He loves head rubs and will hunker down for hours to be stroked and have his ears massaged, purring away and loving the affection. He has been learning word and sound association, so that he knows what's happening and the clicking is his favourite as we have taught him that means head rubs are coming. So much so, he will now pancake his head flat when he hears it, waiting for the strokes.
He is an incredibly stubborn, intelligent and incredible boy, nothing will get in his way and he will explore up ramps even if he falls off he will try and try again until he achieves it. He is very vocal and will grunt when he's annoyed, sometimes grunting to himself if he doesn't quite make the jump but it's this determined attitude which has helped through what has been some dark times for him. He does have food aggression which relates to his reactivity, however we will work with his adopter to teach them what methods and techniques work for him to prevent his mouth landing where it shouldn't.
Please give this incredible boy a chance, he is absolutely amazing and has recently lost his companion so he desperately needs loved and cherished. He loves rabbit company and would love to be bonded quickly as he is seeking rabbits out constantly and looking for friendship.
