Bigwig
About
Age: Born July 2020
Breed: Continental Giant
Size: Giant
Bigwig is a big loveable bun who has a heart of gold and loves being at the centre of the family. He came to us initially when he was a baby and raised by us. He then went out to an end of life foster home and has since lost his companion and come back to find his forever home.
Bigwig adores people and is a typical friendly, social conti. He is extremely confident and isn't phased by anything. He loves to binky and flop in the sunshine and will follow you from the house out into the garden to spend time with you.
This big boy is the dream Alpha, but he is not easy during the bonding process. If challenged, he will not hold back and he could easily seriously hurt another bun. He is a perfect buddy for a bun who is anxious and needs reassurance, but not one who is reactive or will lunge/lash out of fear. Once bonded he is a fierce protector and nurtures his companion/s will all of his being. He will groom them, look after them and give them so much confidence that they will be glued to his hip. This top dog needs to be bonded here at the rescue as his communication style is not for the faint hearted.

Home Criteria
- Can live in a home with a rabbit friendly dog/cat.
- Can live with children if they are experienced around rabbits - giants of this size can easily hurt a child simply by nipping them or digging at them and this needs to be taken seriously. Bigwig has an extremely gentle nature with kids however he will still nip and pull at clothing and is extremely food motivated so interaction would have to be supervised with caution.
- Indoors/Outdoors - Bigwig enjoys both indoor and outdoor time. He could live indoors if in a garage or completely free roam (he cannot be puppy penned). He could also live in a large outdoor set up so long as he gets a lot of space and garden time.
Special Requirements
Giants need a lot of special care as they reach senior age at 3/4 years old. They are prone to arthritis and can easily hurt themselves. Bigwig is healthy for now, but this is a high maintenance breed. Learn more about this breed and their care needs here.
