Bare is Best
As a welfare organisation, our Welfare & Wellbeing policies reflect our stance on best practises of rabbit care.
Dressing rabbits up in any form of clothing (out with medical treatment) is stressful and restrictive to rabbits.
⚠️ Even if a rabbit will appear to tolerate clothing, it is not enjoyable nor kind to rabbits. ⚠️
Dressing rabbits up in any form of clothing (out with medical treatment) is stressful and restrictive to rabbits.
- Clothes restrict their movement, making it hard to do normal things like hop, groom & toilet.
- Rabbits do not like to feel trapped and putting clothing on them can make them feel defensive and vulnerable and extremely stressed.
- Clothing can cause overheating as they cannot regulate their body temperature.
- Choking or injury could occur if clothing gets trapped or tangled.
- If material is chewed and ingested, this could cause a gastric blockage.
