Balsam

NOW AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

About

Age: Born July 2022
Breed: Harlequin Lop Mix
Size: Will be medium once fully grown

I was the tiny runt of my litter, no one expected me to survive but here I am! I am a cheeky little fighter and don't take no for an answer. I love to be nosy and get my little cheeky face into places it shouldn't be. I also like being naughty with my siblings and then running off hiding, pretending to be innocent. I've been told I have such a funny personality, maybe it's my little bum wiggle or maybe it's my love for nibbling your shoes and thinking I can take on the brush & shovel. I am nicknamed "scrappy doo", because I'm small but scrappy.

I was hand reared by the rescue, I am confident around humans but don't love you being 'hands on' like my other siblings do. I prefer to play and get up to mischief.

I am still young, so I'm still learning!

Home Criteria

  • Would be happy either indoors or outdoors
  • Can live in a home with older rabbit savvy children 10+
  • Can live with dogs

Special Requirements

No special requirements.
Balsam along with some of his other siblings had a respiratory infection when they were little due to lack of immune system (common for hand reared buns who had no colostrum). Although this was fully treated, it has left him with some scarring in his throat and sinuses which causes him to occasionally sneeze and have little sneezing fits when he is overly active. This doesn't affect his day-to-day life and he is perfectly happy and fit.

A NOTE ABOUT BABY BUNS:

At BBBB we spend a huge amount of time raising babies who are brought into us, including socialising and training. We do not let them go to new homes until they have been neutered, we do this young at around 10-12 weeks old and then we begin looking for matches for them.

While we can tell you a lot about their personality, a baby bunny does not have a set temperament until they are adults and this can change as they reach adulthood (approx 12 months old). If you are considering adding a baby/youngster into existing bonded rabbits, be aware that while this will initially be an easy bonding process, the rabbit will only find their way into the hierarchy and find a 'job' when they reach adulthood, this means it can be risky to add one in as they can fight to work their way up as they become adults. If someone is looking for a specific job role to be added into a group, we will only match them with an adult rabbit.
