As Scotland's representatives for rabbit welfare, we strive to improve the lives of rabbits across Scotland through our education and welfare work.
The Bunny Welfare Improvement Movement is the education arm of our organisation. Our Bunny Welfare Action Group takes physical action to improve rabbit welfare.
Why
Statistics show that rabbits in Scotland:
Are still the number 1 most neglected and abandoned domestic animal.
8 out of 10 are given up within the 1st year of purchase.
Have an average of 3 different homes in their 1st year of life.
The route cause of this neglect, abandonment and rehoming is the lack of information and education on rabbit care and welfare.
Our Aims
To improve the lives of domestic rabbits across Scotland and improve their welfare.
To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted, neglected and abandoned rabbits in Scotland.
To provide education on rabbit care to the public and campaign for rabbit rights.
How
We work tirelessly to campaign and educate the public on all things rabbit welfare. Our committee, led by veterinary professionals and qualified animal welfare experts, create educational resources and study the trends. As a collective, we sit on various animal welfare boards and committees.
SAWE
Scotland’s Animal Welfare Educators (SAWE) is a collaborative group of various organisations that all work within the education sphere to combat animal cruelty and increase animal welfare awareness. We all work together to improve animal and human communications and welfare in Scotland by means of educational events, programmes and resources.
BABBA
Ban All Baby Bunny Ads is a campaign for a ban on the breeding and selling of rabbits in the UK. They also promote the highest welfare standards, recommend adoption and support ethical rescue centres. We are proud to be recognised as one of the Ethical Rescues who work with and are recommended by them.
